MURDER and murder was Rainer's last film before she turned back to dance. Mildred is a lesbian in her mid-50s and a professor. Doris, in her early 60s, brought up her children alone and never had a steady job. It is the first time she has fallen in love with a woman. She is diagnosed with breast cancer after they move in together. This film is a soap opera, black comedy, love story and political meditation at once. The breast cancer statistics that Rainer reads out turn out to be inadequate. She comments on her alter ego's situation with cool humor. Madeleine Bernstorff, who produced the subtitles for the German distribution print, will give an introduction on 25 March.
